In the summer of 2017 I traveled to Concord, Massachuttes to embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Starting at Ralph Waldo Emerson's home I followed in the footsteps of Henry David Thoreau on a path that he used to make his way home to Walden Pond. I began my reflections by creating a series of six prints which combine various images in layered collages of visual experiences.
As I continue to reflect on the time I spent in the woods, the images portrayed in the prints became source material for a series of mixed media paintings. They combine text, oil paint, collage, plant material and encaustic applied to wood and canvas.
