I've always been fascinated by atmosphere-that space between my eye and the object I'm looking at. While it's sometimes transparent, offering no alteration to what I'm seeing, it's often translucent or even dim, depending on the light present, the time of day, the quality of the air.

In this work I'm exploring the challenge of giving a fixed surface the changeability of atmosphere. Here, layers of acrylic paint create a translucent, nearly shimmering surface reminiscent of dreams or the recalling the natural world at its most tender early morning or after-the-storm moments. Amidst the layers, LED's* are randomly sewn onto the surface of the work. These, often scattered across the face in a random spray or arranged in a geometric pattern, provide a new dimension, a reminder of the purity of light itself.
